Formation
The formation process requires careful exploration, reflection & prayer from both the woman & our community. A woman is guided through each step of this process by a Sister Guide. Each of these steps strives to help you deepen your relationship with God & with the congregation.

During the inquiry stage, a woman is discerning whether she feels called to religious life. With a Sister guide, a woman continues living and working on her own.

A Discerner feels a strong call to religious life and is now discerning whether the Sisters of the Precious Blood is the appropriate congregation. A woman may choose to live in our Dayton, Ohio discernment house or at home.

During candidacy, a woman begins to transition from lay life to vowed life. This is done through participation in community events and by beginning the application to the Novitiate.

A novice is formally accepted into the Congregation & lives in the Novitiate community. At this time, a woman studies theology and the spirituality of the Sisters of the Precious Blood.

Finally, a woman professes temporary vows of poverty, chastity and obedience to God with the Sisters of the Precious Blood. This Sister lives full time in the community & has a full-time job. After a suitable time (usually 3-5 years) a Sister will profess public and permanent vows.
