Friday of the Second Week of Advent - Today's Readings

Jesus seems a little sassy today and I get it! John the Baptist fasted and the crowds called him a demon; Jesus feasts and they call him a glutton! Obviously Jesus wasn't worried about pleasing everyone, but it must have been frustrating to see their hypocrisy. In the end, Jesus knows that wisdom will win.

This is a good reminder for us as well. Sometimes we may get frustrated and even angry. Even if our anger is justified, we must remember that the Holy Spirit and wisdom will prevail.

On the other hand, I know there have been times when I lacked wisdom. Whether it was my own stubbornness or ignorance, wisdom has vindicated herself to me many times. Usually I meet her with embarrassment, wondering how I could've missed something. In the end, wisdom is a gift that we must continue to pray for.

As we continue preparing ourselves for the coming of Christ, let us ask God what wisdom He wishes to share with us.
